Early on Alex developed a love for team sports and music. This inclination towards community and the arts would stick with him his whole life, eventually leading to a CIF Division 1A Basketball championship and a few years of professional DJing. In 2010 he graduated from UC Irvine with a B.A. in Economics, and it was there he experienced the transformational power of diversity, inclusion, and community as a mentor for the Student Parent Orientation Program and Cross-Cultural Center. Post-graduation he was blessed with an opportunity in the education outreach department at Roadtrip Nation - a PBS documentary series that highlights stories about professionals pursuing fulfilling careers and teaching young people life through those stories. Alex completed two tours, RVing across 27 states while speaking at educational institutions and empowering students to pursue passionate, purpose-driven lives. It was on the road Alex realized his role in creating a more just and loving world by serving as an educator and community builder.
He’s been a school teacher and director for 7 years; teaching math, life skills, conflict resolution, and fostering students’ social & emotional growth. With Ray and friends from university, Alex co-founded Eayikes: a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to build self-esteem and community for youth from all walks of life. Eayikes is now in its 5th year and is proud to be alongside TREE, and many other local grassroots efforts, in humbly serving this larger movement of bridge-building. Alex is excited for this next chapter at the new campus, co-leading the Life Skills and Conflict Resolution departments with Ray.
