A Founding TREE Teacher.
Blake graduated from Crossroads School for the Arts and Sciences in 2002, and then from UCLA in 2006, where he studied Studio Art and Art History. He is currently a working visual artist (collage, painting and drawing), as well as a singer/songwriter.
Since the age of ten, Blake has been writing songs and performing live music with a number of bands. He currently plays in two bands, works as a composer, producer and recording engineer, and is creating a breadth of hi own work as a solo artist.
Blake believes that the learning process should be fun as well as challenging, that an enriching and formative academic experience comes first from finding the enjoyment in exploring new ideas and, above all, recognizing how we relate personally to what we study.
As a student, Blake’s favorite subject was English; it is, therefore, his favorite academic subject to teach. At an early age, he cultivated a passion for writing essays, short stories, and poetry—particularly sonnets. Aside from the Harry Potter series, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is his favorite literary work. His love for literature and poetry is an influence on his music and art.
