My name is Nicholas Shih and I was born & raised in Los Angeles. I began meditating about 6 years ago around when I became a certified yoga instructor. During the time, I had just started my massage studio, Serenity Zen, and was looking for ways to manage my stress more efficiently. While I was teaching yoga, I began to incorporate meditation into my classes and saw how meditation boosted concentration, leading to a sense of deeper practice in yoga. To further deepen my meditation practice and teaching, I began attending a Zen monastery that taught walking and sitting meditation about 4 years ago. Under the guidance of the head abbot and the annual silent meditation retreats that the monastery held, I was able to achieve deeper layers of self-understanding, helping me become a better person overall. I currently teach meditation at two locations while holding free meditation classes to the community.
