“Those who love to sing, always find a song” —Swedish Proverb
Imagine a world of silence. Not a single sound.
Our world would be a very different place without music. Music brings people together, builds friendships, and connects cultures.
I learned in history that the first song to ever be sung was Hurrian Hymn no.6. Originally composed by Syrians about 3400 years ago. Music must be important if we used it 3400 years ago. The voice is a muscle. The more you use it the stronger it gets.
I sing every day. Even when I am sick, I still manage to cough out a lyric or two. That’s why I created the Glee Club at TREE Academy. To share my love for singing with the entire school.
You don’t have to be a Broadway star to be a member. You don’t even have to be a good singer. You just have to want to have fun.
So far, the Glee Club has selected “ Jingle Bell Rock ” and our hope is to perform it during the Winter Festival. We will practice it until it is mastered, and then vote on a new song to master. Many members of Glee Club are Hamilton fans so it is very likely that the next song we choose will be from that musical. We may end up writing our own songs and singing them as well.
TREE Academy’s Glee Club meets Fridays at lunch time in the Life Skills room.
