Review: The Emoji movie

9 Jan 2019

The Emoji movie is a phenomenal movie made by Tony Leondis. The film is about a Meh Emoji named Jean, the catch is that he is not a normal Emoji, he has the urge to make different faces when he is laughing, crying, or in love. He’s different than the rest of the Emojis, which makes the COMPLETELY ORIGINAL message of being yourself. This movie plays out when tragedy strikes as Jean, a Meh Emoji, goes to his first job in the cube. He is different from the other Emojis due to the fact that he can express more than one emotion. Jean is super nervous, because he is different, and gets picked Alex the user of the phone, he tries to make a meh face and fails, he starts making all sorts of faces and they try and stop the process but they can’t, so it shows up as a really weird Emoji. Smiler sends bots to exterminate Jean, so he runs away. And the movie starts having the meh Emoji going on a journey to show Textopolis (where all the Emojis live) where he can be himself. Along the way, Jean meets his friend Hi-5, who joins Jean on his journey to the cloud to try and fix his condition. Smiler (smiling Emoji that wants to erase Jean for making the wrong face) wants to get to the cloud too because she wants to erase Jean from Alex’s phone.

Jean and Hi-5 meet Jailbreak, a hacker Emoji that will help them access the Cloud. His parents notice he is gone, so they go on a journey of their own. While on that journey, they go into Instagram and find old pictures of Jean’s father. They discover that his father has more than one emotion too! They also search through Youtube and find one of the most catchy and iconic songs of youtube, Pen Pineapple Apple Pen. Jean and his friends go through a Candy Crush segment where the goal is to get Jean back out of the Candy-Crush board. They also go through a Just-Dance segment where they have to dance there way out of the app. They also go through a music segment where they hop onto different songs to get a step closer to getting to the cloud.

Jean likes Jailbreak in a romantic way, so when they get to the cloud, Hi-5 and Jailbreak head to dropbox and Jean gets his heartbroken because Jailbreak doesn't like Jean in that way. Jailbreak stays in the cloud because she is actually a princess Emoji that turned into a hacker Emoji and a feminist who wants to stay in the cloud (the cloud is like paradise) After they leave Dropbox, they ride the twitter bird back to Textopolis and stop Alex from wiping his phone by sending him an emoji.

Critics LOVE the Emoji Movie, It has a whopping 8 ROTTEN TOMATOES!!!! I'm not going to spoil ANYTHING from this masterpiece because i want you to experience it for yourself.

I give this movie a whopping 9.5 out of 10.

I give this a 9.5 because jean doesn't celebrate the nation wide Buntin Fun-e Day.
