Middle School
Grades 6-8 are a critical time of development for our youngest students and we are dedicated to providing an experience that supports the growth and thriving of each adolescent at TREE. Middle School is our most progressive program, built upon essential questions leveraging interdisciplinary connections and centered on joyful learning.
STEAM
How can we protect water for people, food, and nature in a changing world, using artistic, scientific, and creative design?

Middle School STEAM asks students to be innovative problem-solvers. We encourage them to think critically, explore big ideas, and come up with imaginative solutions using their knowledge of math, science, and technology. By combining logic and creativity, students see how different subjects connect to tackle real-world challenges in exciting and meaningful way

Humanities
How can honoring rituals, celebrations, and the stories we tell about them teach us about life, culture, and resilience?
Explore how people use stories and celebrations to make sense of the world and their place in it. Journey through adventures like The Hobbit, dive into fairy tales and poetry, and discover how cultures from Medieval Europe to West Africa to the Indigenous Americas used storytelling, rituals, and traditions to preserve meaning and
community. Create your own riddles, tales, poems, and celebrations that connect history to your own voice today. See yourself
as both a learner and a storyteller, connecting past and present through creativity, curiosity, and reflection.

Mathematics
How can we use the language of numbers to understand and transform the spaces and systems around us?

Learn core math skills and apply them to real spaces on our campus and beyond—measuring, modeling, and problem-solving in ways that connect numbers to real decisions. From analyzing patterns to building models, see how math is more than just equations on a page—it’s a language we can use to understand and transform the spaces and systems around us.

Physical Education
How does regular movement impact your physical and mental health? How does team play build fitness, belonging, and leadership?

Build lifelong fitness habits while exploring the connections between physical activity, health, and overall wellbeing. Through active participation in games, sports, and fitness challenges, develop fundamental movement skills, improve personal fitness, and build teamwork and communication strategies. Small projects and local experiences deepen understanding of how regular movement supports both physical and mental health. Whether on the field, in the gym, or engaging with the community, make movement meaningful, fun, and relevant.
